Committee Updates - Summer 2017

Finance Committee:
Jacqueline Laures-Gore was selected in April as Committee Chair for the new ANCDS Finance Committee. Committee members include Rebecca Shisler Marshall, Melissa Duff, Hsinhuei Sheen Chiou, and Sarah Schellinger. The committee has begun to develop ideas to help ANCDS increase revenue to support its mission and subsequent activities.

Professional Affairs Committee (PAC):
The PAC was restructured in mid-2017, with Heather Clark appointed as the new chair and all new committee members recruited. The PAC is creating an action plan for meeting the charge of initiating and maintaining liaisons with other professional associations. On the horizon for 2018 is increasing the visibility of ANCDS at scientific meetings (e.g., Clinical Aphasiology Conference, Conference on Motor Speech) and exploring the various ways ANCDS can partner with other associations to forward our respective missions. The PAC is recruiting new members – contact Heather Clark if you are interested.

Communications Committee:
I would like to thank the members of the Communications Committee (Edna Babbitt, Heather Coles, Karen Copeland, Heather Jeng, Erin Mattingly, Katy O’Brien, Leah Ramirez, Yvonne Rogalski, Meghan Savage, Sarah Wallace) for their diligence and commitment to ANCDS.

The committee would like members to LIKE and FOLLOW us on the ANCDS Facebook page, which can be found at facebook.com/JoinANCDS, Twitter at twitter.com/theancds and Instagram at instagram.com/official.ancds/. Please email any suggestions or feedback about the newsletter to Heather Coles at [email protected] or Sarah Wallace at [email protected].

The Communications Committee is currently working on the following agenda items:

Website clean-up. Committee members are working in collaboration with the other committees in order to determine what information requires modifications/updating on the website. A list of the information and how often it should be updated will be created and submitted to the EB.

The committee members discussed using Hootsuite to post information on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. The committee members are discussing how social media can be used to increase and engage the members of ANCDS.

Newsletter. The committee would like to thank Edie for her diligence and commitment in organizing the newsletter. At this point, Edie will no longer be responsible for the newsletter, but will remain on the committee. Heather will take a leadership role with the newsletter and Sarah will assist her.

Education and Standards Committee:

CE Webinars
The Continuing Education (CE) Webinar Subcommittee of the Education and Standards Committee has been developing a process to begin offering CE opportunities.
