RecertificationIndividuals who hold Board Certification are expected to engage in 60 hours of continuing education activities every three years. This keeps Certified members’ knowledge and skills up to date and further enhances their ability to serve people with neurologic communication disorders. For this reason, applicants for Board Certification are asked to demonstrate their continuing education activities as a representation of their involvement in the field. Continuation of Board Certification is dependent on (1) re-certification review every three years and (2) annual payment of certification fees. Both conditions need to be met for a certificate to be valid. In order to continue your ANCDS Board Certification, you are required to submit documentation related to your continuing education activities in neurologic communication disorders over the three years of your certification cycle. Re-certification requires documentation of 6 Continuing Education Credits (CECs). Each CEC is equivalent to 10 contact hours. If your certification is for adults, CECs must be related to adults. Members may submit up to 1.5 CECs that are related to, but outside, the area of neurologic communication disorders. For a member who has an adult certification, pediatric neuro hours would be applied to their 1.5 related CEC cap. Activities by which CECs may be earned and the numbers of CECs assigned to each activity are summarized below.
Examples of activities that are applicable to each area are summarized here. Click here to complete the Board Recertification Application. ANCDS Recertification FAQQ: How often do I need to renew my ANCDS certification?
