RecertificationContinuation of Board Certification is dependent on (1) recertification review every three years, (2) completion of 60 hours of continuing education activities every three years, and (3) annual payment of certification fees. All conditions must be met for a certificate to be valid. Recertification requires documentation of 6 Continuing Education Credits (CECs). Each CEC is equivalent to 10 contact hours. If your certification is for adults, CECs must be related to adults. Members may submit up to 1.5 CECs that are related to, but outside, the area of neurologic communication disorders (e.g. dysphagia) as part of the 6 CECs. For a member who has an adult certification, pediatric neuro hours would be applied to their 1.5 related CEC cap. For recertification, all individuals will be asked to provide an attestation that the requirements reported on the recertification application have been met. A supporting documentation audit will be completed on a random 25% of Board Certified members within recertification cycles. If selected during the audit, Board Certified members will be required to provide supporting documentation to the Board of Clinical Certification for claimed CECs. If Board Certified members are unable to provide supporting documentation, a 3-month grace period will be provided to supply the needed documentation. If unable to provide appropriate documentation within the specified time, Board Certification may be revoked. Activities by which CECs may be earned and the numbers of CECs assigned to each activity are summarized below.
Examples of activities that are applicable to each area are summarized here. (PDF) Click here to complete the Board Recertification Application. ANCDS Recertification FAQQ: How often do I need to renew my ANCDS certification?
