Description:

Fatigue is one of the most persistent and negatively impactful symptoms after brain injury, with up to 60% of children experiencing fatigue chronically post-injury.  This webinar will provide an overview of fatigue and discuss and provide clinical strategies for speech-language pathology assessment and management particularly as related to cognitive and social communication.

Learner Outcomes:

The learner will be able to:

  1. Describe the characteristics of fatigue after childhood brain injury.
  2. Identify one assessment tool for speech-language pathologists to use related to fatigue after childhood brain injury.
  3. Identify one management strategy for speech-language pathologists to use related to fatigue after childhood brain injury.

Speaker Bio:

Jessica Salley Riccardi, PhD, CCC-SLP, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Maine.  Her research focuses on long-term outcomes after childhood brain injury including those related to cognitive-communication.
