Description:

Documenting progress towards goals can be difficult when working with in unpredictable, naturalistic settings with individuals who experience heterogeneous social communication and cognition difficulties.  This webinar outlines a group treatment program for those with chronic moderate-severe traumatic brain injury and introduces goal attainment scaling as an effective tool for documenting changes in functional communication.

Learner outcomes:

By the end of the presentation, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the challenges associated with measuring functional outcomes of group treatment in contextualized settings.
  • Evaluate the benefits of goal attainment scaling in developing and assessing rehabilitation goals for social communication disorders.
  • Develop goal attainment scales that are ecologically valid and reliable.
